Sinner Mango Sport

The Sinner Mango Sport is a fast and light velomobile. The weight is a mere 27.5 kg ready to ride (race weight is a little lower). The low weight compared with a standard Mango+ is achieved by use of different materials in the body and use of race quality components. This Mango still has a fully enclosed drive-chain and resulting low maintenance so is still also suitable for year-round use, commuting and touring.

The Mango Sport has capacity for 70 l of luggage behind the seat as well as items beside the seat which are reachable while riding.

The Mango Sport has three equal sized wheels, so fewer spares need to be carried than with some competitors, and all three wheels are mounted from one side only, making puncture repair and changing of tyres straightforward. The glass-fibre body shell can be wiped clean.

The standard gearing uses Shimano 10 speed components from the Dura-Ace and Ultegra group-sets alongside Sinner special parts. A dual chainset is fitted as standard, giving 20 gears.

The 8 metre turning circle gives good usability in real world conditions, and the 75 cm width means the Mango fits through standard door-ways.

Riding a Mango is a great experience. You can expect a significantly higher speed for the same effort than on an unfaired bicycle, even than most recumbent bicycles. Headwinds and sidewinds affect you far less than usual and you stay warm and dry in winter. The three wheels have independent suspension and the seat is adjustable to ensure comfort. The light weight, for a velomobile, of the Mango Sport makes it particularly suitable for use in hilly areas.

Recommended extras

It is possible to add a range of extra features to the Mango Sport, but if you want a practical combination of extra features while retaining the low weight of the Mango Sport we suggest also looking at the Mango Sport Red Edition.

Most Mango Sport owners will require a brighter headlight for use at night-time. We suggest the addition of an IQ Speed headlight on a removeable bracket. This is the same light as supplied as standard in the nose of the Mango+, added in the lightest weight method possible to the Mango Sport. Because the lamp bracket and rear view mirror are connected with just one bolt, they can quickly be removed for racing.

The standard wiring loom in the Mango Sport includes a connector to power this headlight from the supplied battery.

The headlight with bracket and short wire costs €115 and the added weight when fitted is 150 g

Indicator lights can be built into the simplified light weight wiring loom of the Mango Sport, in which case they appear in the top of the shell as shown here. The indicators add €165 to the price.

The combination of the optional top light and indicators built into the top shell provide our recommended configuration of the Mango Sport for those who wish to use the machine year-round in all weather.

Some customers prefer that we build the headlight into the body of the Mango Sport. This carries a small weight penalty as it requires use of the wiring loom and dashboard of the Mango+ which is built into the lower body. The required fittings, remote headlamp dipping device and needed dashboard add around 500 g to the weight (about 700 g for double headlights) on top of the weight of the lamp, and also . Also, note that this can't be removed for racing, and indicators appear in the lower half of the shell.

Drum brakes can be fitted in place of disc brakes. The cost is the same either way, it's purely a customer preference matter. For those who ride all year around in challenging weather, drums offer better reliability - rarely ever needing any maintenance. For those who ride in mountainous areas, the better stopping power of the disc brakes may be preferred.

The Mango Sport, everyone has his own optimum

For us, cycling is not just a hobby or sport but also a great way of transporting yourself.

While the Mango Sport is optimised for low weight and speed, it is also designed as a practical and comfortable vehicle for everyday use.

Because a human being has a very limited muscle power, we need a vehicle that uses this power very efficiently. A fast bike gives you a bigger range. On flat land air resistance is the most important opposing force you have to overcome. Aerodynamics are very important. But other factors are also important in daily use, like weather protection, comfort, maintenance and reliability, luggage space, safety etc.

The Mango Sport gives all this.
